Leading Life Sciences company Sigma-Aldrich was challenged to produce internationally viable communications programs from its’ central European headquarters in Buchs, Switzerland.

A truly global, Fortune 500 listed company, its’ biochemical and organic chemical products are utilized by scientists in over 35 countries.

ICON Worldwide developed a unique design treatment, which is equally relevant and successful in the US, Europe and Asia.

Marketing Objective: To increase awareness of and promote Sigma-Aldrich as a Life Science Innovator in the US, Europe and Asia, including Japan and China. To develop a strong brand identity for the Fluka and Riedel-de Häen business units in North America and Asia and visually communicates the brand values consistently.

Strategy: ICON developed a product campaign that both promotes an innovative, flagship high end product offering and communicates the life science workflow value proposition. The campaign was developed with a vision to underpin and build a future corporate branding campaign.

Results: Prior to the redesign, sales were down worldwide. Fluka and Riedel-de Häen brands had little significance outside Central Europe. Within months of redesigning the collateral into a worldwide consistent co-brand, Sales increased into the double digits.
