The ICON-Worldwide Studio

It has been about two weeks working as a designer at ICON Worldwide, and it has been quite the experience thus far! My bosses (and owners) Lori and Jon are phenomenal marketing strategists and are constantly challenging us to come up with smart design solutions to brochure/website layouts and logo branding. They have some great established clients I am currently doing work for, such as the University of St.Gallen and ZADZ. The other designers I am collaborating with are Lauren Defranza (http://www.seelaurendesign.com/), Abby Anderson (http://www.abbyabbyabby.com/), and Christopher Jones (http://www.jonesydesign.com/) who all have come here with great portfolios. I am confident in saying, we will all leave here with wiser views on marketing strategy and updated portfolios to back it up.

The ICON studio is a great environment to be in each day. This gentrified factory gives off good spacial vibes for us to be in, with it’s tall loft spaces and draping plants. The studio has many computer work stations, with top of the line equipment (and CS5!), which makes us technology lovers happy!  Not to mention, the other ICON employees and our bosses take every opportunity to make working fun, keep us laughing, and educate us about Swiss/ European culture. Each day is surprising to me because of how much I learn.

Each morning, I take the train from the Gais stop to the Steigbach stop- maybe a 10 minute ride through the mountains. It’s quite enjoyable when the sun is shining! In the mornings, these mountains glow- quite beautiful. We are all looking forward to better weather, and for summer to really kick in! Bring on lunch breaks at the pool!
